Well I for one am thankful that I can turn the radio on, watch some TV, pick up my phone or get onto the internet with out having to be subjected to a political ad. Local or national left side or right side red or blue it did not matter the ads were blasted everywhere in record numbers. Yes we witnessed a lot of history in the past year and a half of political drama. For the purpose of this post though I wanted to write about was the tremendous marketing campaigns we saw in the past year.
The number one thing that I took away from the past year in terms of marketing is the absolute value and power that lies in social network marketing. All candidates were using social networks for their power to reach the people at an all new viral level. The ultimate example of that of course would be the success in execution by the Obama campaign.
Not only did the Obama campaign pull off an amazing upset over democratic favorite Hillary Clinton but carried him to the highest office in the country. The Obama campaign tapped into internet like no one has ever seen before. They managed to mobilize millions of people all over the country, not only for donations but for volunteers as well. This campaign was truly a game changing event that promises to continue into the very way the President of United States communicates not only with the country but to the world.
Evidence that we have only seen the tip of the ice berg in terms of what the Obama team has in store for using the internet as a marketing tool. Check out the new site for the President-Elect. The new site plus an email list that reaches into the millions a list size that would be a wet dream for any internet marketer. Presidential profiles on all the big social sites and even an Obama photo stream on Flickr. There really was no stone left unturned when it came to the social networks and the power they have in this world. So what should you be getting out of this post? If you hope to have any success on the internet in terms of business or what ever your venture is. You had better be all in on the social network marketing train because it’s gonna keep on rollin’
